A market locals actually shop · Taipei, Taiwan
A short, dense night market threaded through the lanes of an old public housing estate off Zhonghua Road, still overwhelmingly a neighbourhood affair — residents ride their scooters right up to the stalls to order. Despite its size it carries several Michelin Bib Gourmand stalls, including a charcoal clay-oven shaobing cart, a Taiwanese popiah roll specialist, a sesame-oil chicken soup shop and a steamed stinky tofu stand. Stalls are numbered and signed in English. It runs from about 5pm to midnight.
Four Michelin-listed stalls in three housing-estate lanes, and almost nobody there is a visitor.
