A temple people come back to · Taipei, Taiwan
Begun in 1804 by immigrants from Tong'an in Fujian, replacing a wooden shrine of 1742, and dedicated to Baosheng Dadi, the god of medicine. A reconstruction between 1917 and 1919, funded by a 32,000-yen subscription, produced the building standing today. Restored in 1995 and given a UNESCO Asia-Pacific heritage conservation award in 2003, it faces the Confucius Temple a few minutes west of Yuanshan station.
The most technically dazzling temple carving in Taipei, and nobody queues for it.
