A cave few will ever enter · Xindian, Taiwan
A waterfall in the hills above Xindian with a temple built directly into the cliff behind it, dedicated to Lü Dongbin of the Eight Immortals, founded in 1914 and heavily rebuilt in 1958. A stone stairway climbs to the shrine so that you end up standing behind the falling water, with a shallow pool at the base for cooling your feet. The signposted approach is 1.2 km from the road, 15 to 30 minutes of shaded walking. From the temple the trail carries on over the ridge through tea farms to Maokong.
Stand behind a waterfall inside a cliff temple, half an hour from the end of the green line.
