The house and studios of portraitist Ary Scheffer at the end of a cobbled alley off rue Chaptal, kept as a museum of the Romantic movement. Scheffer's salons drew Delacroix, George Sand, Chopin, Liszt and Dickens, and the rooms show his and his contemporaries' works.
A free 19th-century artist's house at the foot of Pigalle that most visitors to Montmartre walk straight past.
