The experience
A three-hectare art garden at Douar Sbiti, about 27 km out of Marrakech on the Ourika road, made by the Austrian artist André Heller and planted with cactus, bamboo, olives, palms and roses threaded with sculpture and colour. Paths deliberately double back on themselves so the garden feels far larger than three hectares. There is a museum building with rotating exhibitions and a café using fruit grown on site. The Atlas foothills stand directly behind it.
