A cafe worth sitting in · Marrakech, Morocco
A late-16th-century Saadian house, originally Dar Ijimi, on Derb Chorfa Lakbir just west of the Mouassine mosque — one of the few well-preserved houses of its period left in the medina. Bought and restored in 2000, it now works as a café, art gallery and cultural venue around a deep courtyard whose twelve pillars, corbelled cedar arches, sebka stucco and Arabic inscriptions echo the Ben Youssef Madrasa. There is a rooftop terrace above.
Mint tea in a 400-year-old courtyard that is a gallery rather than a restaurant until the evening.
