A village worth the long drive · Tacheddirt, Morocco

A stone-and-adobe Amazigh village stacked at 2,314 m — the highest settlement in its High Atlas valley — reached from Imlil over the Tizi n'Tamatert pass.
It sits one pass beyond the Toubkal trailhead crowds at Imlil; the road in was only recently paved and most trekkers walk through without staying the night.
It's only worth the detour Apr–Oct. Turn up outside that window and you're looking at a different place; we'd rather say so than sell you the photo.
